Last year was a great year for Immediate Theatre.
In March 2010 Newham welcomed the Big Blue Fence project as the BBF installation made its home at Stratford Library for two months..
In July our young Immediate Theatre actors took part in Breakout and performed George Orwells ‘Animal Farm’
Exposure was held in August and brought together over 30 of Immediate Theatre’s finest actors who performed a modernised version of John Gay’s ‘Beggars and Choosers’…
In September our Peer Facilitators met up with the Mayor of London- Mister Boris Johnson to talk about crime.
We ended 2010 with the Estate Based Youth Theatre in Woodberry Down. The young actors performed a Carribean- African folktale called ‘Anansi the Spiderman pantomime’ which was complete with song and dance. Chaz the Champion of Diversity puppet was introduced and to top it all off we had a merchandise and bake sale!
This was the bakesale before..
And after…

A Reason to be Cheerful!!

Reasons to be Cheerful
The other day the marketing department- which is made up of two people- went down toTheatre Royal Stratford East to attend a training event led by Graeae. It was interesting as it focused on accessible marketing. After the training we were given a free drink and front row seats to watch the performance ‘Reasons to be Cheerful’ which was based on a famous English Rock n Roll singer.
The play included a mixture of diasbled and non disabled cast members and they provided so much energy that at one point I was looking up at the stage thinking ‘this is pure madness!’
When I wasn’t thinking.. I was bopping my head, feet tapping and clapping to the Ian Dury songs. I think we should of been standing up and watching the play- that way we would be able to shake a leg and throw our hands in the air and maybe do those air guitar moves without blocking peoples views or looking silly. Haha.
If you haven’t watched Reasons to be Cheerful you should really watch it. We guarantee you will come out of the theatre feeling happy!
Fantastic Festival of Light.

Hello ImmediateT readers!
How are you all this tuesday?
For those of you that didn’t manage to come down on Sunday one of our youth drama leaders is about to tell you what missed out on..
“Last Sunday the 10/10/10! Immediate Theatre took part in an exciting performance at the West Reservoir. It was all part of our fun filled Well London events and this time we were able to work with Intoto Theatre Company.
Lots of our young people from Woodberry Down Estate Based Youth Theatre created the story of the Swan Prince. The show fused different art forms including dance, song, music and shadow puppets! The songs included lyrics written by our young people and sung by the new Woodberry Down Choir. When the performance started the sun was just going down and Maunella, one of the professional dancers, appeared on a boat on the water! It was beautiful! The sun slowly set and candles and torches illuminated the mystical performance. We had a great turn out with loads of local people coming down and enjoying the performance, music and food! It was a great day- well done everyone!”
… Watch out for the pictures on our website coming soon.
